Central Food Retail and the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health are inviting Thai people to purify body and mind by observing the religious precepts and giving up meat during the Vegetarian food fair, to be held from 16 to 20 October at the 6th floor of CentralWorld.
‘For the 2009 Vegetarian food fair, Central Food Retail has joined with the Department of Heath, Ministry of Public Health to introduce a new cookbook, ‘Kitchen Companion: Vegetarian Food for Good Health’. The cookbook is free, and offers 45 delicious recipes with detailed information on vegetarian restaurants nationwide and interesting nutrition facts,’ said Ms Phattaraporn Phenpraphat, Central Food Retail’s Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations.
Many well known vegetarian eateries from Yaowarat Road, Samyan market, and Phuket will be bringing their quality food products to the festival, as well as vegetarian fusion food and creative dishes cooked from flowers. Other highlights on the opening day include a cooking demonstration of health food by a former director-general of the Department of Health, and body fat checkups.
In addition to a wide selection of fresh vegetables, fruits and organics vegetables, visitors will enjoy a variety of delicious, creative menus from leading vegetarian fusion restaurant Bug & Bee. Their main ingredients are the flowers of indigenous plants like cowslip creeper, Ceylon spinach and jasmine, providing a harmonious blend of Western and Asian flavours.
Ms Phattaraporn added that more than 3,000 vegetarian items are available this year, including fresh vegetable and fruit, protein from soybean, cereals, bread, and vegetarian instant food products. In addition, customers can receive discounts of up to 10-30 per cent and special promotion on over 1,000 items.
