Central Food Retail to market fruit from
Eastern Provinces over 1,000 tons

Central Food Retail Ltd. is joining with the Provincial Commerce Offices of nine provinces in the Eastern region for the marketing of regional fruit and farm produce. The company expects to help selling of produce more than 1,000 tons in 2008 through its 94 stores of Tops Super, Tops Market and Central Food Hall.

This time, The 9 Eastern Provinces Fruit Fair is held in an eco-friendly way by offering a free premium for customers bringing their own bags to shop.

“Ministry of Commerce is focusing to develop distribution channel and market to farmers and agriculture. The Provincial Commerce Offices of nine provinces in the Eastern region has been working with Central Food Retail to distribute produce and agricultural products to consumers at reasonable price which adding more convenient to both farmers and consumers.” said Director General of Department of Internal Trade, Mr. Yanyong Phuangrach.

“Right from the orchards in the nine provinces in the Eastern part, including Chanthaburi, Rayong, Trad, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Nayok, Chon Buri, Sa Kaeo and Samut Prakarn, the fruit highlighted in the fair are of the best quality. Not only the fair helps promote domestic economy, it also brings fresh produce and signature products from various provinces right to consumers. They can shop for their favourite regional fruit without having to travel a long way from home.”

“Central Food Retail is bringing our well-renowned fruit fair back again, and this time, it’s more special than before,” said Ms. Chiranun Poopat, Senior Vice President – Buying & Merchandising and Marketing, Central Food Retail Company Limited.

“The fair is held in an eco-friendly concept to against the global warming. By offering customers a free premium if they carry their own bags to shop at the fair, we aim to promote this kind of habit in the long run. Besides, this also reflects our ‘Go Green’ strategy of which Central Food Retail has abided by to fulfill our ambition as a retailer with responsibility towards the environment. For this reason, we are confident that the fair will be warmly welcomed by the consumers.”
